I mostly lurk here, but I did want to let you know: The August 1997 issue
of _Consumer Report_ has an article on "Asthma and the air you breathe"
(pp. 39-41). Asthma and allergies are discussed here, and there's a section
of "Recommendations." Here they talked about getting allergies under
control, since this is believed to head off asthma. They also discuss how
much the incidence has gone up, and speculate that culprits may include
"immune systems that a re more allergy-prone because of fewer childhood
infections."
Nowhere in the entire article, including the recommendations, is a mention
of the connection between breastfeeding and reduced incidence of allergies
and asthma.

Anyone who's interested in pointing this out to them, please check out the
article.

Thanks,
Janice Berry
