My middle daughter had recurrent urinary tract probs as a youngster until we
finally identified that the xylitol sweetener in the sugarless gum we
occassionally bought and used for treats was triggering the reaction. She
would exper. freq. urination, itching, pain. She has to be really careful
as a teen to avoid artificial sweeteners of all sorts or she has reactions.
As with anything, it is always possible to have idiosyncratic reactions, and
everything has potential side effects. Individuals using new treatments
should observe for adverse reactions. Saline sprays on their own can give
some flushing and prob. bacteriostatic support for people trying to cleanse
and clear the nasal passages.
