As has been mentioned, it is hard to show this even with the best of dolls,
videos etc.  Until a mom actually has her baby in her arms, there is no
method of demonstration that will fully show this.



Here are a couple methods I have used to try to help moms understand what we
are describing.  "At first it may look like you are confused and are trying
to put your nipple up the baby's nose instead of into its mouth!"  This
usually gets a laugh, but it does make the point that baby's lower jaw
really needs to be further on the breast than she probably imagines.  I also
will use my fist to try to demonstrate.  I extend the knuckle of my middle
finger a little to represent the nipple, then demonstrate with my own mouth
as the baby's.  (Again, this may not be easy to understand with just a
verbal "demonstration".)
