help am at my wits end do not know how to help this mom.

Saw mom and baby on day 10 infant had decreased urine, decreased stools
weight down from discharge weight. Mom had sore nippples. suck
assessment baby was biting. Showed dad how to do suck training and
started mom pumping. Within less than 24 hours baby back to breast
doing great. urine, stools and weight increasing appeared to have
solved the problem. all was well for the next 3-4 days. now baby back
to biting but only at the left breast. Biting starts when infant
becomes frustrated. mom has very slow MER on left breast (5-7 minutes)
compared to Right breast of only a couple minutes. Mom has tried
feeding tube on left breast to keep infant interested and from biting
until MER but infant will keep resorting back to the biting. shaking
head fussing.

Mom had no significant history no oral contraceptives, no thyroid
problems or breast surgery. Mom is a pediactric nurse practioner and
really wants to breastfeed this child. we are beginning to think she
will only be able to feed from the one side.

Please any suggestions on how to get baby to breast without biting or
how to decrease MER response time.
