Greetings,
I don't write often but I need some support today. I'm a solo LC
working at a rural hospital. Normally, when I share new info with
the docs I kind of spoon feed them by casually giving them articles
to read and saying " I've got something I would like to share with
you". That's about all I do. I give them info slowly and leave them
alone. Today I gave a female ped the new press release from WHO . The
ped read it and said very defensively that since the AAP didn't
endorse the growth charts she was not at all interested. Also, she
said her group just changed their growth charts last year and she
didn't want to change them again. So there it is, THE WALL. My
concern is that until the AAP gets 100% on board with the WHO
guidelines we will not see any changes here in the US. I have been
caught off guard by this. How naive of me to think for one second
that this was going to be even open for discussion.
I have been doing this work for a long time and don't get too
frustrated anymore. This one got to me!
