AT a website on AOL entitled "Who should NOT get the smallpox vaccine, " it
states that any individual under 12 months of age should not get the vaccine,
however, "the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) advises
against non-emmergency use of smallpox vaccine in children younger than 18
years of age."

"For the 130 million Americans never vaccinated, experts would expect nearly
2,000 to face life-threatening complications and 125-250 of them to die. For
about 158 million people being revaccinated, experts expect nearly 800
life-threatening complication and about 40 deaths."

This vaccine is dangerous. There are real risks to getting vaccinated or
being around people who have just been vaccinated. This coupled with our new
homeland security bill which had an amendment tacked on that absolves Eli
Lilly from lawsuits in regard to their vaccines is precedent setting. It
seems to me to set the tone of the times in which we now live. I think
people should be fully informed of the risks they are taking not only for
themselves but for those around them. If they are not military or emmergency
personnel, they might want to consider the high risks involved in being
vaccinated for this disease.
