My take on this article was a bit different.  There is at least an
acknowledgement that epidurals have side effects (!!!)
and the comparison was with opiates, not natural, drug-free labor.  I would
agree that epidurals are preferable to multiple doses of opiates, but it is
at least recognized that both have negative consequences.  That makes the
last sentence not quite accurate.
Not an epidural fan either,
