Dear Lactnet Friends:

I submitted a comment to this article; the moderator suggested that I
write to the author with my questions. My commented will NOT be posted, the
first time I have ever had a comment rejected from the electronic version
of Pediatrics.

Here is the text of my comment:

"It is good to know about physical risks to older infant
safety.

While this study provides an in-depth analysis of some elements of an
infant's physical environment, I wonder how many babies were
formula-fed, how many were in homes where tobacco was used, how many
infants were swaddled, was there alcohol or other consciousness
altering drugs used by caregivers, and who was sharing the bed with
the babies.

All of those factors are also part of an infant's environment.

All newborn mammals sleep with their newborns; if humans couldn't have
done that, we would not have survived."

I doubt that my comment was rejected because of an error in tense; 'was'
instead of 'were'.

warmly,
