<< I am curious to know if any of you either as professionals or as moms have

used homeopathics in this kind of a situation? Or other alternative

therapies (like diet, accupressure, accupuncture etc) instead of or in

conjunction with allopathics? The one friend I have used homeopathic sepia

with her 5th and 6th children and found it to be very helpful. I I know

others who have used B vitamins and cleansing diets with (they feel)

success. >>

Sepia is very commonly used for depression. It is widely considered to be a
"women's" remedy and can be particularly helpful in periods of transition,
such as menopause and pp. But, homeopathy works best, esp in serious or
chronic conditions when the person sees a homeopath for a constitutional
remedy. This remedy would be different from one person to the next for the
same complaint, b/c they have different "constitutions".
A member of my family saw a complete recovery of rather deep depression
with the use of homeopathy, B vitamins (in particular B complex, B6 and B12),
dietary changes (excluding sugar and severely limiting refined grains and
carbohydrates) and St. Johnswort. Only the B vitamins and diet needed to be
continued long-term, but it was the homeopathic remedy and herbs that gave
the emotional boost to make and sustain the other changes.
The other thing that is seriousely overlooked, IMO, is the loss of EFA's
during pregnacy and bf, esp in the context of the Standard American (Western)
Diet. I suggest that mothers take flax oil and sometimes DHA as well.
