The medications giving preoperatively, intraoperatively and
postoperatively should be of no concern for the nursing infant.  After
all, we do hernia operations on babies younger than 6 months, no?  If
she is not convinced, try the surgery with local anaesthetic.  Its
safer than general, and recovery is also faster.

A baby carrier worn so that the baby is on her back could take care of
some of the instances when she would have to carry the baby.  I guess
dad is just going to have to do a lot more, eh?
