Phyllis,
I did understand what you meant, and I disagree.  Research shows that
babies got more volume when they nursed at both breasts per feeding, and
that weight gain was attributable to milk volume intake, not fat
content.  Unilateral bf is mostly helpful when there is an oversupply.
For this baby, I would encourage mom to bf at both breasts if the baby
will take them , and I'd encourage her to use breast compression to
increase the baby's milk and fat intake.
