Hey Lactnetters:

I'm back from several months of self-imposed No mail which I used to finish
my last semester at UVA. I've been catching up by reading the last couple of
days' posts, but I couldn't resist jumping in on the thread of LC's and
formula companies' pamphlets.

First, I talked with a formula co. rep back when I first became a mom and we
were both waiting in the pediatrician's office. He on a business call, me for
a well baby check. He asked if I were using his product. I said, "Oh no. I
only use the best." His reply, "Our product is the best." My reply, "It isn't
MY milk!!" He chuckled and asked if I would like a promo of his product or
coupons. I didn't and his reply was, "Well, you breastfeeding moms are our
targets. You want what is best for your child and when you wean, you'll
switch to formula instead of going to cow's milk which is not optimal
nutrition for an infant under one year, you know." I replied that neither was
formula.

Anyway, I just wanted to say, kudos to those who recognize marketing ploys
when they see them!!
