I heartily agree with Jo-ann.  Way too much emphasis is being placed on
what a mom "needs" to successfully nurse her baby.  I pretty regularly see
moms who come to me in a near panic state because they don't have a "boppy"
yet!  Forget the boppy - let's channel that energy spent worrying about
what equipment she has or doesn't have into learning how to nurse her baby!
When I teach hand expression I hold up my hands and say, "These are
attached and free"!  Jo-ann, you bring up a good point for mothers of
limited financial resources.  Some of these moms have convinced themselves
they will not be successful nursing, because they can't afford piece of
equipment X, Y, or Z.  Too bad more mothers can't be convinced to nurse
because they can't afford the cost of formula!
