Magda,

I think I signed up for that session. If so I will be glad to share
my notes.
Just a reminder, for those that cannot attend, ILCA usually sells
off extra copies of the syllabus-a good way to get at least some of
the info you miss by not being there. The other is purchasing
session tapes. These are usually very helpful. In some cases,
however, when a speaker uses lots of slides, you may miss lots of
points. For example: "Notice what is happening here. We want to
avoid that kind of positioning." Without a description of the
slide, you're lost. When I sign up for sessions, I usually also
note the ones I can't attend but want tapes. Then when I get my
packet at the conference, I immediately check to see if the sessions
I wanted on tape will actually BE on tape. Some speakers do not
allow taping (often on the order of their publisher, not the
speaker's choice). Then I may see if I can change to attend the
non-taped session and buy the tape of the one I originally intended
to attend.

Our local ILCA affiliate always purchases a number of tapes for our
lending library. If yours doesn't, they may want to consider it.
Our program in September is always reporting on the conference by
those fortunate enough to attend. We then decide on tapes to buy
based both on content AND on how much of the info will really come
across on tape.

Incidentally, a plea to those attending. I know it's a little
aggravating to always be reminded to ask your questions at a
microphone or have the speaker repeat the question. However, if
this is not done, anyone getting the tape misses out on a lot. As a
classic example, one tape I purchased had the following on it:
"....................................................................(long
silence while someone made a comment away from a mike)" The speaker
then said, "I'm so glad you brought up this critical point.
Definitely yes."!!! I never was able to find out what that critical
point was.

Winnie Mading, who has attended more conferences (LLL and ILCA) than
I can recall.
