While we were discussing the use of the syringes to help moms with inverted
nipples, I had a good friend visiting - a malpractice lawyer.  So, I asked him
what his thoughts were on our risks in using a syringe for this purpose.

He agreed we were putting ourselves at risk for lawsuits in case of injury.  On
the other hand, he is a breastfeeding advocate and suggested that one way to
help to reduce (though not eliminate) the risk is to have a very clearly written
instruction sheet in which the risk of damage to the nipple is clearly
explained.  He recommended that  *in bold print* we state the need to stop doing
anything that causes pain in order to avoid damaging the tissue.  This
instruction sheet must be given to each mom, she must sign it, then she keeps a
copy and we keep a copy.

As I said, he does not know that it will eliminate all risk of lawsuits, but
should one occur, it should help to reduce our exposure.
