In Austin, members of our Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies Coalition ran in
the Komen Foundation, Race for the Cure (to raise funds and awareness about
breast cancer.) They carried a simple banner about breastfeeding. This
required no more money than their entrance fees. I can see a similar effort
working elsewhere. Other low-cost ways to share info would be a letter to
the editor of the local paper timed to coincide with race week discussing
the protective benefits of bfg. with regard to statistical reductions in
breast cancer. The "Letters" page is one of the most-read in most
newspapers. Another idea would be to call the paper and see if the health
editor is interested in writing something about the issue. Try to sell the
idea by calling it a "new slant on prevention that many may not have heard
about." Then do your homework and have a few of the very best articles in
hand to give to the reporter.
