Hi All
    On the recent posts concerning, Oprah's 'Best Of' moments. It showed
how taken out of context, you make something say anything. I have the
original show and I felt that the MDs on the show were extremely
supportive of breastfeeding for such a public venue and such a 'hot'
topic. To me the entire issue of  the show was not what they stated, but
parents who were unable to set limits and be consistent with those
limits. Waiting until a child is whinny and  in a temper tantrum to make
a decision, results in a child who whines and throws temper tantrums to
get what they want or need. Just my .02 worth.
    On the abandoned kitten, the kitten milk replacer is available at my
favorite discount store (WM) and most pet stores. On the label, it does
advise to get the kitten to the mother if possible before starting the
replacer (so giving the EBM, is better than nothing). My sil who is a
Vet Tech in MI, has rasied several litters of kittens, puppies and wild
animals on this and puppy milk replacer, just remember back to your
newborn nursing days, baby needs to eat frequently and kept warm. The
only other difference is that the closer to newborn this kitten is, you
may have to stimulate the workings of the bowels. The mother does this
with her vigorous licking, human 'mother substitues' must do this by
rubbing the kitten's stomach toward the rear end. This is what I have
picked up from the years I have watched and heard about her experiences.
Unless this kitten was ill at the time of abandonment or contracted
something between being abandoned and being discovered, each day of
survival is a step toward a successful outcome. Abandoned kittens such
as this will be very people oriented animals as this is all they know,
they will also follow you around as you are the only 'mother' they know.
