HI, all, I just got back from a wedding and one of my dinner partners
told me about her daughter's weird experience: all through her 2
pregnancies her nipples and breasts looked "normal" but when "her milk
came in" the baby could not get any milk out because the nipples would
collapse inward when baby tried to suck. Couldn't get anything with a
pump either, and in fact the pediatrician told the mother NOT to pump
bec. she felt that the milk production that would be stimulated wouldn't
be able to "get out" and the mother would get an infection. Now that
sounds silly to me, but why would a nipple that seems "normal" collapse?
I suggested that next time the mother might try the inverted syringe
trick to try and keep the nipple from folding in and express milk that
way for a while, to give it a try. Actually, since her twins are only 3
months old, do you think this trick might work, or do you have any other
suggestions?
Thanks for any input.
