Years ago,when I worked as a hospital LC for 5 years I worked with a  mom 
thru each of her deliveries.  One breast scarred with no nipple from burns 
as a child.  1st time lots of engorgement, uncomfortable etc.  Used cold 
compresses (frozen peas trick) etc.  By 3rd baby hardly any problem, as if 
breast had learned that it wouldn't work.  She breastfed very sucessfully 
with only one breast.  Pat in SNJ
