Hi everyone,

PTP: I am working with a mom whose baby has is being treated for a protracted GBS meningitis. The baby now has staph epi bacteremia. Additionally, the baby is being worked up for an immunodeficiency deficiency. Mom's breast milk was cultured and is positive for staph epi. She does have some plugged areas that she is trying to clear. I am not convinced that her breast milk is the cause for the blood infection. She is concerned that breast feeding is going to cause the baby to have infections and was wondering if using formula would be a better option. I am looking for any research or direction to reliable resources to assist her in making an informed decision for her baby.

Thank you in advance,

Kristi
