Hi!

A close friend of mine with no BF support except me (1000 miles
away) recently quit nursing her 4 month old. I heard only second
hand that the baby went on a nursing strike (???) and that most
relatives were promoting the bottle.

Now the problems have occurred. Her first son has a rare
immunological disorder (BF for 6 months, then bottle), a
complement 2 deficiency; in and out of hospital for first several
years of life. Middle child seems fine. The 4 month old is
having lots of problems. Milk, soy and wheat allergies thus far.
On some kind of strange, expensive formula. Went in for DPT last
week and an hour later stopped breathing, had to be revived. He
was hospitalized for several days and is still having apnea
spells. How difficult is relactation? Does anyone know of any
studies relating immunological problems with vaccinations? It was
not a problem with the batch of vaccination as he was the only
infant presenting with such a problem>>>>

I'm so sad..... Wish she had talked to me about the problems she
was having nusring to begin with......
