Dear Folks:
Seems like infants are at risk for sudden, unexplained death whether
they sleep alone in cribs or in bed with their mothers.
Aren't rates of SIDS higher in countries where infants sleep alone?
Doesn't that tell us something.....along with maternal sleepiness being a
sign of milk ejection reflex? And that every other mammal on earth sleeps
with their babies?
Maybe when we teach this topic, we need to change our strategy. Such
as:Topic: infants at risk for sudden, unexplained death.
        Approaches: co-sleeping or solitary sleeping.
        Benefits of each.
        Risks of each.
Ameliorating factors: tobacco use in the home and breastfeeding.
Then parents will have the opportunity to choose for themselves. Warmly,
Nikki Lee
