Ann,
Breastfeeding and Human Lactation  Second Edition by Riordan & Auerbach
has an entire chapter, Work Strategies and the Lactation Consultant.
This chapter includes valuable information for all LCs.  The section on
Hospital LCs refers to 1 LC/1000 deliveries.  This chapter helped me
immensely when I went to my manager asking for help in an extremely busy
hospital.  Hope this helps.
