Alice, you are so right.  There of course should be a protocol.  But then, if it should not be the norm and is not the norm everywhere, maybe instead, we should develop a protocol for feeding with the other types of feeders.  In other words, a protocol for what should be done on a regular basis.  Nasal gastric tubes are for when other feeding methods are inappropriate.  Do you think it would be better to advance this proposition from this angle?  Again, I am so glad you are working hard on this important issue.
