Thanks so much for your prompt response to my mystery mother! Did you post
your response to Lactnet as well? Responses from Lactnet members have been
few in number and mostly "Never heard of it". Is it that rare? I did fwd
your response to Dr. Jack.

Is there a chance that a D&C might alter whatever is blocking milk
production? Or is the estrogen being produced by the cysts the primary
blocking factor? As an advocate for this mother's health, I am sharing
this info with her obstetrician. As an advocate for her breastfeeding, I
want to give her the most realistic support I can.

Can you recommend any further reading? Do you know of any guidelines for
systematic evaluation of failure to lactate? This is a huge frustration
for many LCs. What to rule out first, second, etc. We have wonderful
tools: ie Decision Trees for managing infants who are not breastfeeding
well. There is some information about differentiatin between 'Maternal',
'infant' and 'Lifestyle' causes.

I am looking for a systematic assessment that zooms in on maternal,
physiologic causes of true no or very low milk production.

I'd appreciate any & all thoughts on this!
