Nancy has said this as well as it can be said: The AAP represents
pediatricians as their lobby and their de facto union. They do NOT
represent babies and children. If the AAP represented babies and children
the resolution Nancy mentions would have passed long ago.

There is nothing wrong with the AAPıs being a strong lobby for the best
interests and economic issues of pediatricians. The problem is perpetuating
the idea that the AAP actually lobbies for the best interests of children.
This propagates misunderstandings and hard feelings. I am still a member
and agree that we should work from within the AAP to actually move the ties
from AAP/Industry to AAP/Children. It could happen though not in our
lifetimes.

Subject: AAP
EVERY year one of us unethical pediatricians submit a resolution to refuse
or
limit formula company money and influence in the AAP. It has not been
accepted as yet, but there are lots of us who are trying to change from
within.
Please note that the AAP represents membership. YOU can all help by
educating
your pediatricians locally, so they elect and vote the way we would hope.
