I can tell you from personal experience that this can vary even in the same
mother and child. There is no magic deadline.

Protein foods like eggs and milk seem to take longer than things like orange
juice, which can bother the baby in 30 minutes flat and then be gone again
almost as quickly.  In my own experience and with moms I've worked with,
three or four days of elimination produces a visibly happier baby, but it
can take a week or more to clear from her system.  Less if it's a one-off
thing that she had already eliminated but then tried again just once, and
sometimes several weeks if it's been a staple of her diet until now.
