I am living proof that this is possible :)

I did not need to maintain the supply I got because I went to full 
'direct' bf after about 10 days but I could easily have done so, I 
think.

I did not use a pump, and one of the sad things I have seen over the 
past 30 years or so is that too many mothers think i) they have to 
pump as an integral part of bf ii) they have to buy a piece of 
equipment to do this.

Hand expression can be very quick and easy and is a useful skill - it 
might be slightly tiring on the hands and fingers, but it needs very 
little preparation. And of course it costs nothing and is the lowest 
tech 'method' you can get, apart from the baby, of course :)
