I am currently working as an IBCLC in a pediatric practice. Here is my
dilemma:I have been working for this practice as an RN and
their "breastfeeding specialist" for the last 5 years. I saw that there was
a need for someone to help the breastfeeding mothers of the practice and
this motivated me to pursue my goal of becoming board certified as a
lactation consultant. This year I reached my goal and I am now going to
begin to work strictly as the office lactation consultant. Since I was not
certified and still "in training" the office did not pay me for my services
nor did they bill for it. Now that this is going to be my sole position and
responsibility we would like to charge for it but are not quite sure how
this should be done. If anyone has any insight to this query, or can point
me in the right direction to obtain the answers that I need, I would be
very grateful for the assistance. I live in the U.S. Feel free to email me
privately as well. Thanks for your time. Terri Syme RN, BSN, IBCLC
