Actually, this has become one of my red flags. If the parent tells me that
their newborn is passing a lot of gas and is crying and fussy, I usually know
that baby is not getting enough to eat. It is truly amazing how often I've
heard that the parent called the PED about this and was told that the baby
was colicky and to try some simethicone! If I get them to come in, we almost
always find weight loss and a hungry baby show stops this after being fed.
