Thanks to Winifred for her response to my email re: different types of inversions and breast shells, or other treatment.

Yes, most of the women I speak of (wih inversions) worked with me for some time after delivery and engorgement........Hoffman's technique, back-toward-chest-wall massage, and hand expression (of course they were using the pump, and also reported that the nipple didn't come "out", just the whole, or front part of, the breast came into the flange).  If, as I suspect, the nipple holes were immature, or not developed, along with immature, or mal-developed nipple tissue, then the mother got through engorgement but little milk was produced (stasis).  The point is, I can find no research, and it might be a fine collective effort to gather data as a group for "findings."
