Thanks to everyone who responded to my request to help a Russian mother
whose baby was suffering from blastocystitis. The LLLL in Russia now
has another question that she has asked me to help with. One of the
mothers in her group has an infant diagnosed with "increased tonus."
According to the mother the baby does not arch or bite or have any
trouble latching-on; however, she will only turn her head to one side
and has "excessive movements of the extremities" making breastfeeding
challenging. The baby was prescribed phenobarbital by one Dr. then
tsetral (Russian name possibly) by another Dr. The drugs have such a
strong sedative effect on the baby that mother is very worried. Does
anyone know where I can find more info about this condition? The LLLL
in Russia has very little access to info beyond the BAB and WAB. Any
help is appreciated. Thanks!
