Sarah: is this mother allergic to other antibiotics? Floxin is not good
for bf moms, but there are lots of antibiotics that are ok and good to
use for wound infections. What are the OB's reasons for using this one?
Have cultures been done that would indicate a specific need for this
class of antibiotics? This class of medicines
does get better tissue levels than many oral antibiotics, but if
this is the concern she may be able to use something like Rocephin once a
day IM or IV. Hard to answer this one without more specific info, of
course, but she could discuss these possibilities with her docs.
