Hi all,
In response to Judy Knopf's observation's re: religious women having a higher
rate of bfing - My practice involves a large religious (Orthodox Jewish)
population of Los Angeles. From my observations and being a part of this
community, it is definately true that religious women ALMOST always breastfeed
and continue to do so after most of the other population that I work with has
stopped. What I don't see, is real long term (2-3 years) bfing. The reason is
since birth control is not practiced by Orthodox Jews most women are pregnant
again before that time and have large families. It makes for difficult tandem
bfing.
