Whenever possible and bottles are given, I always suggest emb, however many
peds in my area suggest suplemental abm. While I am in the process of on
going inservice education I have run into a discussion of high iron vs. low
iron for the mom who prefers to offer abm to the nursling.

I thought low would be preferred so as not to interfer with the function of
lactoferrin or bind with the iron in human milk. Several peds have insisted
on high iron for the breastfed baby.

Does anyone know of any studies with this info???
Thank you in advance!
