The method that is currently working for us is that we have a charge for
using the breastpump which includes the cost of the kit. Breast shells and
Lansinoh have a per item price. All other breastfeeding related supplies
are included in the cost of the consult.  We use a levels system.  Weight
checks have a courtesy charge number (no fee). Level 1 is a noncomplicated
visit, or brief in terms of time spent with me, requiring inexpensive or
limited use of supplies; Level 2 is a higher fee based on amount of time
spent (usually more than one hour) or use of complicated or expensive
supplies which require more instruction on my part. It works for us, we're
a small community hospital with just one LC position.(though are fortunate
to have another working labor/delivery on the night shift)
