I have a friend whose husband, due to a misdiagnosis, has lost most of his
intestine and bowel.  He receives food directly into his main veins.  He
can eat but everything goes right thru him because he essentially has
nothing to breakdown his food. He can barely walk to the street from his
house because he is so weak. He is now on permenant disability.  When she
told me all of this it dawned on me that perhaps some donor breast milk
might be a good supplement for him.  I know that I read in Milk, Money, and
Madness,  that there are cultures that used to feed their elderly and sick
folks breastmilk. Knowing what is in breastmilk I can't help but think it
might help some!  Besides that book, does anyone know of a good reference
where this is discussed?  Does anyone know of a good internet reference
that might have more on breastmilk besides the act of breastfeeding?
