Hello Gonneke,
The power/area of the ultrasound will modify the energy deposited in
the tissue under treatment. It may change the amplitude of the
vibration, but it will not affect the frequency.

What will happen with a higher power is that the attenuation will be
lower in the tissue that is between the ultrasound emitter and the
area you want to treat. If your ultrasound wave has low power, then it
will be quickly attenuated and will become heat in the tissue before
the area you want to treat.

Sound shock waves are used to treat kdney stones. The name of the
technique is lithotripsy. I wonder if in this mechanism lies the
explanation for the use of ultrasound in treatment of obstructions in
the breast. And I also wonder whether somethign along the lines of
lithotripsy could be used to treat blockec ducts.

Best regards,

Veronica
