I have seen several cases of one-sided nursing due to
injury or profound "preference." In one case a mother
weaned from one side (preference/supply issues due to
prior surgery) and went on to nurse from the other
side nonstop for more than 10 years. The first child
weaned around 9 years. During this period a second
child was conceived and then tandem nursed for a
number of years before the first child weaned. The
second child continued to nurse at my last followup.
