Hi there. If Hale's book says Asacol is moderately safe, then I would
recommend that this be weighed against the known risks of formula feeding. I
think what might be missing from this equation is the risks of not
breastfeeding, which are substantial and often ignored.  I have not read the
piece on Asacol in Hale, but that is my initial thought. There are very few
situations that warrant stopping breastfeeding for medication use,...and it
is a benefit/risk evaluation.
