<<The other alternative, in addition to partial pumping, nipple shield,
and gravity feeding already mentioned by Kathy and Jean is short,
frequent feeds with occasional pumping to make sure the baby is
maintaining moms supply.  I usually don't recommend mom stop pumping or
attempt to reduce her supply until after the baby is breastfeeding
well.  It is complex to work with tiny premies, but so worth it.>>

Great thoughts all!!
I haven't found the "antigravity" postion to be practical with *most *
premies. Their latch is often too tentative to allow for the stress in maintaining
it-inherent to this positioning.
I also avoid the f-ball hold with these *choking* premies (at least through
the initial "push" as Jean so aptly words it!) as inevitably flow seems to be
faster in this position. Has anyone else noticed this?
Of course these remedies only apply to the PROVEN choker as fast flow often
means more milk taken-very desirable with the premie who can handle it!
