Baby throws up BM

I recently worked with a women who had the same story. The parents the
reported the infant always throws up after BF but not when they gave formula.
I had them come in and observed the feeding. 4 sucks into the feeding the
infant began gulping vigorously and shortly after the arms were flying. After
3 minutes I stopped the feeding. Had mom burp the baby and checked the wt.
The infant had drunk 3 oz in 3minutes. He was throwing up because of mom's
overactive letdown. Check this out as a  possible source of the problem.
After a few days of nursing 6-8 hours at a time off each breast and pumping
the other only to comfort the problem resolved.
