Jo-Anne, thanks for the response. (Someone forwarded my message to
Karen, who is currently no-mail, and I had a private reply from her,
too.)
Yes, Mom has been feeding two at a time, since babies all seem to be on
the same pattern, and the smallest often wants "seconds", so it is
frequently two followed by two. Today mom told me she has been trying
to feed them one at a time to do more breast compression; she has also
rented a Classic pump today (had been using a PIS).
Another LC friend who nursed twins has suggested that mom use a wrap
around nursing pillow so she can free her hands to do double breast
compression, but mom feels that because babies are so small they slip
down too much when she uses the pillow, so prefers using a couple of bed
pillows, and does need her hands to keep babies well latched.
The increased intake from pumped milk and a couple times using formula
is having some effect as mom reports stools are now normal yellow seedy
ones (had been browner and not seedy); I'm hopeful that they are
beginning to gain. We'll check weights again soon.
I'm also encouraging mom to seek more help in the daytime when dad is
working (no grandma available).
Any further suggestions are welcome.
Flossie
