Jan B.
Thanks for the super great handout about the dangers of Ezzo and for the
link. This flyer looks like it will be very effective in helping
parents make an informed choice about parenting.

I've had several students in my class (I teach child development and
community college classes) who have been under strict orders from
parents to follow an iron clad schedule. The students I teach are all
child care professionals and have a hard time standing up to parents who
insist on such a rigid schedule. They complain that the babies are
miserable. This flyer will give them proof that scheduling is not in a
baby's best interest.

On a happier note, I am working with pregnant and parenting teens in a
high school-based program and at first I thought that no one breastfed.
Wrong! After I had been there several times, some teens eventually
"admitted" that they breastfed. Three infants (out of 6) and 2 toddlers
(out of 10) are being breastfed. Oh Happy Day!

I immediately posted breastmilk storage guidelines and created a
mother's corner with rocking chair and a breastfeeding poster. It's so
wonderful to hear a teen parent discuss the benefits of breastfeeding
with a pregnant teen. I just smiled and nodded a lot. These mothers did
a beter job than I would have. They come in for their lunch and lay on
the floor of the child care and nurse their babies to sleep.

Heidi S. Roibal, happy to share good news, at last!
