The pain may be directly related to the mothers Raynaud's syndrome, caused by
a vaso spasm in the blood vessles supplying the breast. Does she experience
any color changes in the nipple or areola post feeding? I have seen both a
blanching (ghostly white) and a deep purple color. In Raynaud's syndrome
there is sensitivity to cold. Hot packs before nursing may help
