Seems to me that the idea of 'no nutrition in breastmilk after a year
so wean' is profoundly controlling, arrogant and ignorant. We get to
hear this idea in the UK, too (and sometimes, there is apparently no
goodness in breastmilk after four months, or six months, or eight
months - take your pick).

I think it's not just a distrust of the process of breastfeeding, and
it's not just a silly, illogical notion (as people have pointed out,
in what way is breastmilk good for 364 days and not good for 365
plus? It's 'new' breastmilk each time - you can't wear it out like a
set of tyres on your car! Nature is wonderful at renewing - oak
trees last hundreds of years!)

It's also a distrust of women and their bodies. This doctor and
others who share the same idea find it hard to accept that a woman's
body can go on and on and on and on producing finest quality 'stuff'.

I hope I am not reading too much into it, when I say this is an
example of misogyny.
