I saw a video (some kid nature show) of an elephant using his tongue
like a digit.  It was amazing ... picture the peristaltic wave of the
breastfeeding infant magnified to a swelling, uprising, curved over,
and grasping mound grasping then sweeping a peanut back into the
elephant's mouth.  The tongue tip stayed extended while this
"wave/digit/thing" carried the peanut into the mouth.  Now imagine
finger(hand?)feeding this little beastie!
