FYI - I am really tired of these articles that "prove" formula is just as good as breast milk!
 
The children were divided into 3 groups based on neonatal feeding patterns:
group 1 = mother's milk only (n=219)
group 2= mother's milk and human donor milk (n=277)
group 3= mother's milk, human donor milk and cow's milk formula (n=240)
 
Fixed feeding schedule with a feeding every fourth hour. The children were followed at ages 7 &14.
 
No exact amounts of formula given.  Nothing on how long the hospital stay.  Nothing on how infants were fed after discharge.
 
The only thing I figured out was that breastfeeding early on seems to protect. Any scholar who wants to evaluate  email me off line.
