Dear Friends:
Sara poses a question about aquatic mammals and breastfeeding. My
understanding is that the breast squirts out high-fat milk at a rapid rate of
speed and high volume, so the little dolphin or whale can feed quickly.
Dr. Michel Odent visualizes an aquatic part of our evolution. After
seeing some mothers with powerful let-down reflexes that shoot milk across
the room, I can better accept that idea.
I recommend his book "The Scientification of Love."
     Warmly,
Nikki Lee RN, MSN, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CIMI, CCE
