Reading the analogies to milk removal equalling more milk, like keeping
zucchinis picked causes the plant to produce more, I can't help thinking of
my own, and many other adoptive mothers cases, where we can start out just
going through the motions of removing milk, even with a breast that has not
been exposed to a day of pregnancy, breast pumping, medication or herbs to
increase prolactin, etc., and soon there is milk there anyway! It is magic!
It is kind of like going to a garden spot that has just been sitting there
with an unsprouted zucchini seed in the ground, watering it, and getting a
plant that is already producing fruit in only days!

I have spoken to several mothers, who had doubts about whether they were
capable of producing enough milk for the babies they gave birth to, who have
said they took alot of encouragement from learning that I produced milk for
my babies, with nothing but their suckling to stimulate it. It certainly
underlines the fact that suckling stimulation is the most important factor
in getting the breasts to produce milk!

Aloha,
Darillyn
